It All Started in the Bedroom

We had been married for over 17 years. And like a lot of couples, intimacy has always been a vital part of our connection. But no matter what lube we tried—cheap ones, luxury ones, hyped-up ones—none of them felt quite right. Some dried up too fast. Others turned tacky. And nearly all of them came in bottles that felt like an afterthought.
So, we said: what if we just made our own? What if we designed something that we loved? 

There had to be others out there waiting for a better solution like we were. Love Potion was about to be born.

We Had No Idea What We Were Getting Into

Turns out, making lube isn’t as simple as mixing some homemade ingredients in a bottle. It is considered a medical device (yes, really), which means FDA regulations, lab testing, certified facilities, and more than a few headaches. But we stuck with it—because we believed the experience of intimacy deserved better.

Not just better lube. A better experience altogether. This means better moments in the bedroom.

Two Years...Many Prototypes

We tested everything: formulas, textures, packaging, even the feeling of the bottle in your hand mid-moment. We didn’t just want a lube that “worked”—we wanted one that disappeared into the experience.

Some were too thick. Others too thin. Some started great and ended... weird. And don’t even get us started on the cheap bottle that spilled in our nightstand drawer.

Here’s What We Found

  • Silicone lubes work well, but ruin your toys and stain your sheets.
  • Many water-based lubes just don't perform well.
  • Lube bottles are not designed for intimacy, they are designed to maximize profit.
  • Pop-tops spill easily and require two hands to use which hampers intimacy.

So we began our design process.

Why We Chose Water-Based (But Made It Feel Like Silicone)

We love how silicone lubes feel—until they stain the sheets, damage toys, or leave a sticky residue that kills the vibe.

So we pushed our manufacturer to do something better:
A premium, water-based formula that glides like silicone, without the mess.
It’s smooth, long-lasting, and toy-safe. And if we’re honest—it’s not quite silicone-level, but it’s close. Really close.
